Punjab Halal Development Agency (PHDA) Chairman former Justice Khalilur Rehman Khan has stressed the need for devising a ‘development plan’ to promote and increase exports of quality Halal products from Pakistan to the international market. He also called for tailoring a training programme so as all the Halal food export institutions working in Pakistan could be organised, improve their quality, meet the international standards and make a good name in the international market.
These views were expressed by him while chairing a consultative meeting convened by the PHDA recently to discuss imperatives of Halal food value chains, compliance regime of integrity food safety standards and Halal certification system. The meeting was part of a capacity development programme initiated by the PHDA for the human resource of private industry, especially for food industry.
The training programme will be focused on a scope and opportunities of Halal Business at national and international level. Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Standing Committee on Halal Food Convenor Nasib Ahmad Saifi assured the participants and the PHDA chairman for initiating such training programmes for processors, manufacturers, importers and exporters to bring the industry at par with international standards. He said that Halal food stakeholders would also be extended all out practical and financial support in this regard.-PR
